In the process of CO2 snow spraying, the liquid CO2 is transformed into compacted solid CO2 snow particles with diameter from 1 to 100 μm by thermodynamic and physical processes. The dry ice particles have a temperature of -78.5 °C. CO2 particles are added to the Compressed air. Particles are accelerated by Compressed air in the nozzle. A uniform free jet can be produced taking into account the flow rate, temperature and pressure conditions. Depending on the nozzle, a circular jet (circular nozzle) with a high level of cleaning capability or a flat jet (flat nozzle) with a width of up to 125mm and uniform cleaning performance is formed. This free jet can be used for cleaning and pretreating surfaces.

The sudden sublimation of CO2 snow particles produces pressure fluctuations that loosen impurities in the surface microregions and even in the pores. Contaminants are removed from the surface and removed by sliding, tilting and impact blasting.
